Match Information
Blackburn Rovers v London Bees
Bamber Bridge FC
14:00 kick-off
FA Women’s Championship.
The season so far:
Rovers kicked off their inaugural campaign in the second division with a 5-1 defeat away to Lewes. However, the scoreline doesn’t reflect the whole story as the teams went in at the break at 1-1 as Natasha Flint canceled out Emma Jones’ opener for the hosts. Rovers played particularly well in the opening 45 at the Dripping Pan but were punished in the second half by a ruthless Lewes performance. The Bees will have to be at their best in order to take the points home this Sunday.
One to watch:
The player that the Bees should keep their eye on is Saffron Jordan, the Rovers captain will most certainly be a threat to Lee Burch’s side. Jordan was the FA WNL top goalscorer last season as she helped her side achieve promotion to the FA Women’s Championship. She has already made over 100 appearances for Rovers and is a firm fan favorite. Keeping the host’s number 9 quiet will be crucial to the Bees’ chances of success this weekend.
The Boss: Gemma Donnelly
The Rovers manager must know the club like the back of her hand, she has been involved with the ladies’ teams and development for 14 years. She now enters her fifth season in charge of the Lancashire club and she will be hoping to create further history with her side in this campaign.
We’ve met before?
This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between the two clubs and it’s set to be an intriguing clash at Bamber Bridge this Sunday as both sides go in search of their first win of the season.
