Sian, after the disappointment of last week’s postponement, how has the week in training been?
“The postponement has allowed us to continue working on ourselves and it has been positive throughout the week.
“It was really disappointing not to play, but it is understandable with the restrictions from the weather.
“It did allow us to train on Sunday and we have had a good week in training.”
What has the focus been like following the number of postponed games and the preparation that goes into them?
“The players were frustrated along with the staff, but it was something that needed to be done for player safety reasons.
“It has put a big focus on this weekend’s game and the players are raring to go because it has been so long since our last fixture.”
We are away to Chichester & Selsey Ladies this weekend, what sort of match are you expecting?
“It will be a really tough game and it was really tight last time we met at the beginning of the season.
“I think we are in a slightly different place with the squad, so I expect us to come out with a strong performance.
“They are tough opposition who will defend well with strong, physical players.
“They have picked up some good results over the last couple of games and will be confident heading into this match.”
How will the lack of games affect the squad considering how long it has been since the last match?
“I am hoping it will not affect us too much and Chichester will be in a similar situation to us.
“We have trained within that period and had some high intensity sessions to keep the players ready.”
We recently completed the signing of Ashleigh Goddard, how pleased are you to see her returning to the Bees?
“It is a fantastic signing and the journey that Ash has been on over the last six months has been absolutely incredible.
“Ash is a player that I have worked with a few years ago and she is a fantastic person to have in and around the group.
“She has real leadership qualities and has been massively inspirational with everything that has happened to her in the last few months.
“Ash reached out to be involved in some of our training sessions so that she could get herself back up to speed.
“I would like to give huge credit to the medical staff who have done so well working with her. Jade and Chris have done a great job.
“We are so excited to have her back on board and see what she can do for the rest of the season.”
Given the journey Ashleigh has been on, she must be really excited to get going again?
“I think she must be the most excited I have ever seen a player to get the registration over the line.
“It was fantastic to see and I am so pleased for her that she has got back to the position to be playing again.
“It was something that was hugely deserved following all of the hard work that she has put in.”
How do you think we can build some momentum going into the second half of the season?
“When we looked at the fixtures as they have been shifting around, we saw January as a really big opportunity to go and get some points on the board.
“That is the major focus within the group and the players have been really good since they came back from the Christmas break.
“We are all looking forward to getting back amongst the fixtures and are hoping for a positive start to the year.”
