The Bees take the trip to New Rowley Park, home of St Neots Town FC as they take on Cambridge United for a 2pm kick off in round one of the FAWNL Plate Cup.

London Bees:

The London Bees picked up a vital away victory at Champion Hill, defeating Dulwich Hamlet 3–1 thanks to goals from Cheyenne Flynn and a Lily Whitelock brace.

The Bees made a perfect start, taking the lead inside two minutes when Millie Isherwood’s pinpoint corner found Flynn, who powered a header into the top corner.

The early pressure continued, with Shamoy Campbell causing problems down the flank and delivering a series of dangerous crosses.

After just ten minutes, Flynn was brought down in the box, and Whitelock made no mistake from the spot to double the lead.

Dulwich began to grow into the game and eventually reduced the deficit before the break, as Asia Harbour Brown slotted past Tia Ginn to make it 2–1.

In the second half, the hosts pressed high in search of an equaliser, but the Bees stayed compact and disciplined, looking to hit on the counter.

Manager Dan McKimm made several substitutions to freshen things up, introducing Betty Larkin, Aimee Durn, and later Thea Budden after an injury to Mira Hoteit.

With fifteen minutes to go, the Bees regained control, and Whitelock produced a moment of brilliance, spotting the goalkeeper off her line and lifting a delicate chip into the net to restore the two goal cushion and seal the win.

In the dugout:

Ahead of this Sunday’s FAWNL Plate Cup clash, assistant coach Tim Abramyan said:

“They were massive three points for us last Sunday versus Dulwich.

Credit to the opposition, they always make the game very tough.

We had to dig deep and got the win over the line.

The focus now turns to the Plate action versus Cambridge, where we want to go as far as we can, as it’s a great chance for us to win a trophy.”

Cambridge United:

Cambridge United Women FC were founded in 1992 and are based in Cambridge, England.

The team plays most of its home matches at Rowley Park in St Neots, with some fixtures held at the Abbey Stadium.

Known as The U’s, they currently compete in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East alongside the London Bees.

In their recent fixture, Cambridge United fell to a 3-1 defeat to QPR in the Division One South East last Sunday.

The visitors opened the scoring after 17 minutes through Annie Dzyadyk’s long-range strike, but the U’s hit back quickly when Shannon Shaw headed home to level the game.

Cambridge continued to compete well, though an injury to Grace Stanley before half-time disrupted their rhythm.

After the break, QPR regained the lead with a superb effort from captain Emily Hill, before Jess Leach added a third late on to seal the win.

Despite the result, Cambridge showed plenty of spirit and resilience and will take positives into their next outing.

Cambridge United last five results:

Cambridge United 1-3 QPR

AFC Sudbury 0-1 Cambridge United

In the opposition dugout:

Cambridge United manager Sean Greygoose will be in the dugout for the hosts on Sunday.

Sean Greygoose was appointed as Head Coach of Cambridge United Women’s First Team in June 2025, having previously led the club’s Under-18s side.

In his two years in charge of the U18s, he achieved two top three finishes in the league and guided the team to a County Cup final, helping develop players who made the step up into senior women’s football.

Ones to watch:

Cambridge United forward Jade Bell is the clubs and league current top goal scorer, contributing ten goals by hitting the back of the net nine times and assisting once in ten appearances for the U’s.

Last time these two sides met:

London Bees claimed a convincing 3–0 victory over Cambridge United Women last time out after a dominant performance on the road.

The visitors started strongly, creating several early chances before Mira Hoteit broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with a precise strike into the bottom corner.

Just after the restart, Sam Lanza doubled the lead, heading home from a well-placed cross to make it 2–0.

Despite Cambridge’s efforts to find a way back into the game, the Bees remained in control, maintaining possession and pressing high.

Midway through the second half, Millie Isherwood sealed the win, calmly finishing past the keeper after a clever through ball from Aimee Durn.

Goalkeeper Tia Ginn and a solid back line ensured a clean sheet as the Bees comfortably saw out the match to secure all three points.

Dan McKimm will be hoping his side can hit the ground running this Sunday as they kick off their FAWNL Plate Cup journey.
