The Bees will be looking to get back to winning ways this Sunday against Cambridge United at The Abby Stadium in the FAWNL Division One South East.
London Bees:
A midweek fixture on the road to Actonians saw the London Bees suffer a loss from a last minute penalty.
The Bees started brightly and looked to assert themselves early on, with Sandra Martins firing a long-range effort narrowly wide.
Despite that early pressure, the hosts took the lead through a stunning strike from Georgia Griffin that flew into the top corner, beyond Tia Ginn’s reach.
The Bees responded well and found a deserved equaliser midway through the half, as Martins headed home after good work from Hayley Hoare and Renai Bennett.
Their performance improved after the goal, creating further chances and finishing the first half strongly with Martins again testing the goalkeeper.
After the break, Ginn produced a series of outstanding saves during a dangerous counter-attack to keep the scores level.
As the game entered the final stages, both sides pushed for a winner, but it was the hosts who regained the lead from the penalty spot after a handball decision.
The Bees pressed for a late equaliser but were unable to find a way through, falling to a narrow defeat despite a determined performance.
London Bees last five results:
Actonians 2 – 1 London Bees
London Bees 5 – 1 Luton Town
Norwich City 3 – 0 London Bees

London Bees 4 – 1 MK Dons
In the dugout:
London Bees coach James McKimm spoke ahead of this Sunday’s fixture saying:
“Thursday night was obviously a disappointing result for us despite what was a decent performance, so we’ll be looking to correct that this Sunday.
Playing at The Abbey will be a great experience and occasion.
I know the whole squad are raring to go and hopefully get us back to winning ways”.
Cambridge United:
Cambridge United Women’s Football Club was formed in 1992, winning the 1993-94 Eastern Region Division Two, and were promoted to Division One.
The U’s most recently reached their first national cup final, the 2024-25 FA National League Plate, losing 3 – 0 to Derby County.
Cambridge currently sit in 10th place in the FAWNL Division One South East, their most recent fixture seeing Chatham Town take the three points and two goals at home.
The visitors showed strong defensive resilience early on, frustrating the hosts before a triple substitution from manager Boanas proved decisive, as Karesha Iton and Otesha Charles both found the net to secure the win.
The U’s started brightly, creating early chances through Jade Bell, while the hosts struggled to make an impact despite a brief spell where they came close on multiple occasions.
After the break, the Chatham dominated possession and continued to press but were repeatedly denied by a combination of determined defending and key saves.
The substitutions ultimately turned the game, with Iton breaking the deadlock before Charles added a second to seal the result.
Cambridge United’s last five results:
Chatham Town 2 – 0 Cambridge United
Cambridge United 2 – 2 Chesham united

Last time the sides met:
The last meeting between the Bees and the U’s was in the first round of the FA WNL Plate Cup where they raced into a dominant first-half lead, with goals from Millie Isherwood, Brionne Fowle and Cheyenne Flynn securing a 3-0 advantage at the break.
The Bees extended their lead early in the second half as Isherwood grabbed her second to make it 4-0 and put the tie firmly in their control.
However, Cambridge mounted a rapid comeback with three goals, including a penalty, to set up a tense finish.
Despite late pressure from the hosts, the Bees held on to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory and progress to the next round of the Plate Cup.
The sides later met again, in the league this time, where the Bees resumed their winning ways with two goals from Shamoy Campbell and one from Millie Isherwood as the game finished 3-1 to the Bees.
Dan McKimm and his side will be looking to continue this run of form against Cambridge this Sunday.
