The Bees impressive run of form continues with a 3-0 victory over AFC Sudbury at The Bees Stadium in the Division One South East League.
As the game went underway, the sun was out shining and both teams looked focused in taking an early lead in the match.
Within the opening minutes of the game, the two sides struggled to create a good attempt on goal, with the ball being won back by both defensive lines, pushing the ball back up field.
Bees’ defender Rebekha Wozniak had a good chance with the shot on goal, striking high and long from outside the box, but it was eventually collected in the hands of the goalkeeper.
However, the game started to take a turn, as the Bees found themselves creating more chances than their opponents and finding spaces to take a hit at goal.
In the 23rd minute of the match, the ball gets crossed into the box on the left by Shamoy Campbell, finding her teammate Sam Lanza in the centre.
Lanza connects well with the ball, as she taps it past the goalkeeper and into the bottom right corner of the net, giving the Bees the lead.
Minutes later Shamoy Campbell looked to double the score for her side with a strike from outside the box, curling towards right side post.
Unfortunately, the shot carried too much height as the ball flew over the crossbar, resulting in a goal kick to the visitors.
The Bees performance was really starting to shine, as it didn’t take long for the second goal, with Sam Lanza once again finding the back of the net, dribbling the ball around the goalkeeper and making it 2-0 to the Bees in the 31st minute.
With half-time approaching the Bees were looking to further increase their lead as Shamoy Campbell tested her luck once again from outside the box, but this time it strikes the crossbar and gets sent back up field, leaving the score the same.
Half-Time: 2-0
As the second half kicked off, the Bees were playing as they were in the first half, working their way up the pitch and setting up some good chances.
As the game reached the hour mark, Millie Isherwood found some space outside the box for a shot, hitting the ball with good power and height, although the aim was unfortunately slightly off target as it fell wide of the post.
It didn’t stop there for Millie Isherwood, as she became determined to score, putting herself in great positions to collect the ball and face the goalkeeper.
In the 75th minute she struck the ball again, this time with better accuracy but slightly more height as the ball bounced off the crossbar for the second time in the match.
Chance after chance was going by but Millie Isherwood wasn’t giving up, as then in the 80th minute, Sam Lanza runs down the right-hand side into the box, passing it across to Isherwood, who hits it first time and finds the bottom left corner.
After a few attempts in the second half, Millie Isherwood had got her goal as well as increasing the lead for the Bees, in what looked set to be a comfortable victory.
As the game reached full-time, Dan McKimm’s Bees claimed a fantastic 3-0 win, as well as keeping a clean sheet in the game and collecting another valuable three points to add to the league table.
