Bees hit five past unlucky Luton Town at the Bees Stadium

Both sides started brightly, and within the opening minutes each team created an early chance on goal.

The Bees had the first golden opportunity of the game when Aimee Durn played a through ball to Millie Isherwood inside the box.

Isherwood lined up a first time shot but was slightly off balance, sending her effort just wide of the goal for a goal kick.

Shortly after, Shamoy Campbell broke free down the right and delivered a dangerous cross into the box, but it drifted over the crossbar.

However, the Bees broke the deadlock in the 11th minute.

Isherwood chased a loose ball towards goal as the goalkeeper rushed out to collect it.

The Bees forward got there first, tapping it past the keeper and rolling it into the back of the net to put her side ahead.

The Bees continued to pile pressure on the visitors, with Hayley Hoare trying her luck from distance.

Her effort sailed towards goal but just skimmed the crossbar on its way over.

The Hatters were forced into a goalkeeper change midway through the first half after Isherwood accidentally collided with Nicole Melling.

The Luton keeper was unable to continue and was replaced by substitute Sarah Hudson.

Dan McKimm’s side remained focused, and shortly after play resumed Sandra Martins fired a first time effort on goal, but it was kept out by the Luton substitute goalkeeper.

The visitors stepped up their efforts shortly before the break, forcing Tia Ginn into action to stop a counter attack, before Rebekah Wozniak made an important block on the stroke of half-time.

Half-Time: London Bees 1-0 Luton Town

Renai Bennett made her home debut for the Bees at the start of the second half, replacing Isherwood.

The Bees immediately threatened, creating two close chances within the opening two minutes.

Wozniak and Aria Heil both connected with separate corners that were directed towards goal, but Luton managed to keep them out on both occasions.

Unfortunately, moments later Luton’s substitute goalkeeper also picked up an injury.

She continued until around the hour mark but was eventually unable to carry on, meaning an outfield player had to go in goal for the Hatters.

Wozniak looked to test the stand in keeper with a long range effort from outside the box, but the shot was saved and pushed out for a goal kick.

Not long after, Ginn produced a brilliant save to deny a powerful long distance effort following a Luton counter attack.

However, from the resulting corner the visitors found an equaliser, with a header making its way into the net.

The Bees then introduced their second debutant of the afternoon, Jaime Gotch, who replaced Cheyenne Flynn and received a warm welcome from the home supporters.

It didn’t take long for the Bees to regain the lead.

Campbell played a pass through to substitute Sam Lanza, who cut inside and set up Martins to drive the ball into the bottom left corner.

From that point on, the Bees took control of the game.

Hoare tried another effort from range which once again skimmed over the crossbar.

Martins then grabbed her second of the afternoon when Campbell drove towards goal, drawing the keeper out before squaring the ball to Martins, who calmly slotted home from close range.

Bennett nearly added her name to the scoresheet with a close range effort inside the box, but Luton’s stand in goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny her.

As the game moved into added time, Hoare joined the list of scorers.

She found space inside the box and curled the ball past the keeper to make it four for the Bees.

In the final minute of the match, Martins broke through the defence and went one on one with the goalkeeper, calmly placing the ball into the bottom right corner to complete her hat trick and seal a 5–1 victory.
