Sian, a 3-1 defeat in the County Cup against AFC Wimbledon. What are your initial thoughts on today’s game?
“It was a massively disappointing result and was nowhere near the standards we have come to expect of ourselves.
“We did not defend well enough and we will need to go away and continue to work hard in training.
“We had a massive amount to do early on and it was always going to be difficult from there.”
Jade Bell made her debut today and was impressive with her tricky running. What did you make of her performance?
“It was nice for her to have a strong start and a goal to top off what was a good performance.
“We will all be hoping to see more of the same from her in future and are delighted to be able to welcome her to the club.”
The team created several chances and shots throughout the game. What positives can you take from the game?
“There are positives and we did create a lot of chances, but it felt like one of those games where things did not quite fall for us the way that we would have liked.
“The long and short of it is that we have not defended appropriately and gave away three goals against good opposition.
“They have some great players and were well organised so full credit to them because they were better than us on the day.
“We definitely generated lots of good opportunities, but we need to be finishing them off to win games.”
Next up is Plymouth Argyle in the league. How important is it to bounce back from this defeat and what sort of competition are you expecting from them?
“It will be massively important. The league will always be our priority, and while the cups are great competitions to be in, the league must be our focus.
“Plymouth is going to be a huge game against tough opposition but it is a must win game.
“We have to come away with three points so we will be doing everything we can to prepare the players for that game over the next two weeks.”
