London Bees are delighted to announce that, following ongoing discussions, full-back Alex Penny has signed a new contract to remain with the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Alex joined the Bees last season from former league rivals AFC Sudbury, where she spent the majority of her career.
The defender enjoyed five years with the Suffolk side, progressing through the club’s academy before earning her first-team debut.
Alex made her London Bees debut during the FAWNL fixture against Norwich City at The Nest in February.
Introduced as a second-half substitute, she made an immediate impact on Dan McKimm’s side with an energetic display before her afternoon was unfortunately cut short due to an injury.
On securing Alek’s signature ahead of the new season, London Bees Head Coach Dan McKimm said:
“It was a frustrating start to life with us for Alex, picking up that injury on her debut for us against Norwich.
But I still have huge faith in her that once she’s back fit, which isn’t far away now, she’ll be a real asset for us.
There’s a reason we signed her last season, and that hasn’t gone away”.
Alex Penny spoke on staying with the Bees saying:
“I’m really happy to be here for the new season, and I’m really looking forward on what’s to come.
I’m wanting to get myself back fit ahead of the new season, as a team we’re wanting to push for promotion, and I want to help play my part in that.
I’ve felt that I have settled in really well here and now I want to able to play as many games as I can and share the pitch with the players here”.
Congratulations on your new contract, Alex!
This deal is subject to the usual FA and League clearances.
