London Bees defender Mira Hoteit has been called up to the Lebanon’s national team in the race to qualify for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, a tournament that also serves as a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Running from the 5th to the 20th of July, the qualifiers feature 34 teams split into eight groups, with only group winners earning a spot at the finals in Australia.

Speaking on her international call-up, Mira Hoteit said:

“It’s always a huge honour to be called up for your national team.

I hadn’t played for Lebanon since moving to the UK four years ago, but over the past year, the Federation has made a real effort to track players abroad.

I was invited to a training camp in May, which included two friendlies. I was in the starting lineup in the second match, and played around 75 minutes across both games, and was very proud to be back on the pitch representing my country.

The team has changed a lot, more ambition, professionalism, and new talent, including players from leagues in Australia, France, the US, Denmark, and more.

With Asian Cup qualifiers coming up, it’s a big challenge, but I’m excited.

Playing for your country brings a different kind of adrenaline and is a great opportunity to test yourself at the international level, so I’m looking forward to it”.

London Bees head coach Dan McKimm spoke on Mira’s call-up saying:

“It’s an incredible achievement to be given the honour of representing your country, and no one deserves it more than Mira.

All of her football family back here in London are looking forward to following the Lebanese team’s progress and we’ll be cheering her on every step of the way”.

Everyone at London Bees wishes Mira the best of luck!
