Sian, a great win away from home, what is your immediate reaction?
“We are absolutely thrilled with the result and so pleased to win after being on the wrong end of the result in the last two matches against them.
“Crawley are tough opposition that caused us lots of issues again today, but we are thrilled to get the win and show what we can do as a team.”
How crucial were those two goals in quick succession to turn the momentum?
“It was massive for us and you could see the momentum change within that time period.
“We caught them on the counter-attack for the first goal and then scored a well-taken penalty for the second.
“It was really important for us to be clinical and we had spoken about it a lot heading into the match.
“We knew that they were going to be solid defensively and when we had those opportunities, we had to make them count.”
How do you think our players came through the pressure after conceding so close to half-time?
“I think the players responded well and they had learned a lot from the last time we came here and lost 3-2 after going 2-0 up.
“We spoke about it at the break and they got through those first 15 minutes of the second-half and battled for absolutely everything.
“You could see how much it meant to them because they worked their socks off. It was unbelievable today.”
How impressed were you by the work of the forward players, in particular Jade Bell and Jo Wilson?
“Yes, they were fantastic throughout and the two of them have been great since they came in.
“Jade’s work rate is unbelievable and her pace is just frightening. The technical ability that she offers within the game is huge for us too.”
We sustained heavy pressure during phases in the second-half and the players fought and battled hard?
“Yes it was huge. Crawley dominated possession for large parts of the game, particularly in the second-half.
“We managed to keep them outside the box and defended well against a good side.
“We know Crawley’s threats and they have caused us issues in the past before.
“Huge credit goes to the whole squad for defending as resolutely as they have today.”
We have got a busy run of fixtures coming up with Hounslow only a few days away. How important is it to keep this momentum going heading into this busy period?
“We looked at January as a very important month for us. I think that they are all games that we can pick up points in.
“Today’s game was going to be one of the biggest tests for us and we came through it with all three points.
“It is key to keep building the momentum that we have started this year so that we can climb up the table.”
