The Bees continue their run of away games with a Thursday night (7:45pm) trip to London Seaward in the Division One South East league.
The run of away games didn’t start the way the Bees were hoping for as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Dulwich Hamlet last Sunday at Champion Hill.
Straight from kick off the hosts had immediate control of the game, producing a shot on goal within the first few seconds, that ended up flying past the post.
The Bees retaliated quickly after being caught off guard, however Megan Burrows’s chance from outside the box was quickly denied by the oppositions defence, clearing the ball up field.
In the 5th minute the hosts took a corner which was guided into the net by Anna Jowle, given the Hamlet’s an early lead.
Despite going down by one, Dan McKimm’s side refused to back down, as Shamoy Campbell was creating chances down both sides but couldn’t find a way through the Hamlet defence.
Dulwich continued to press on throughout the first half, but Tia Ginn came to the Bees rescue, stopping any further chance of the hosts extending their lead.
As the clock was approaching the 40th minute, Lily Whitelock broke free for the Bees and took a chance at levelling the score, striking the ball with power, but with too much height it skimmed over the crossbar.
With only seconds till half time, Mira Hoteit gets brought down from an opposition tackle, leading to her having to come off the field and replaced by Aria Heil to finish the half.
The second half commenced with the Bees looking to pull on back early on, but sadly the hosts extended their lead in the 48th minute with a goal by Iesha Swaby.
Although The hosts held a comfortable lead, the Bees still pushed for a chance back into the game but couldn’t seem to get the ball on target.
With full time approaching, Iesha Swaby took a long range chance at goal, flying just too high for Tia Ginn to make contact, leading to the hosts grabbing their third of the game, with the final score 3-0.
London Bees last five games:

In the dugout:
Dan McKimm spoke on the fixture saying:
“It’s great that we’ve got another game coming up so quickly that we can get straight in to and bounce back. Obviously, Sunday’s result wasn’t what we wanted it to be, but the beauty is we’ve got another chance to go again this Thursday, the girls are very much looking forward to getting back out there and onto the pitch.
It’s a quick turnaround from last Sunday, but we’ve had a really good session on Tuesday. Good bit of recovery work with some activation and some short sharp play on the ball to get us ready and set. The energy from the girls has been fantastic recently, just what I was after following on from Sunday. I’m very happy, very excited, looking forward to Thursday and hopefully we can get 3 points on the board.
It’ll be really nice to go back and see some familiar faces, they’ve got some great people down there at London Seaward and I’m very much looking forward to seeing them. Although we still have a job to do, it will hopefully be a good occasion under the lights”.
London Seaward:
London Seaward suffered another defeat recently in the Division One South East league, after losing 2-0 away to league leaders Chatham Town.
London Seaward did well to defend against the league leaders in the first half, as the game remained 0-0 going into half-time.
The hosts put in a strong performance throughout the first half, but struggled to get past Seaward goalkeeper Alex Baxter and couldn’t find a way to take an early lead.
Within the second half the Chats eventually broke through and took the lead through Ellie Jeffkins, after constant pressing at the visitors.
Chatham Town increased their lead again when substitute Darcey Wells headed the ball into the back of the net from a corner.
London Seaward last five results:
Chatham Town 2-0 London Seaward
Cambridge United 1-0 London Seaward
London Seaward 0-1 Norwich City
Dulwich Hamlet 1-1 London Seaward
London Seaward 0-1 Chesham United
From the opposite dugout:
Jason Murray will be in the dugout for the hosts this Thursday night along with his assistant Kevin Watts.
Murray has previously managed at Forest Crusaders WFC, Romford WFC, Clapton WCFC, and Buckhurst Hill FC.
As well as being first team manager for London Seaward, he is also the current Head of Men’s Football at the University of East London.
Ones to watch:
Katherine Long is the top scorer for London Seaward this season, who has scored 5 goals in 13 appearances for the club this season.
Last time these two sides met:
The Bees hosted London Seaward back in September, as the Bees secured a 3-0 victory to earn the three points.
During raining conditions, the Bees took an early lead through Sam Lanza, who put the hosts up 1-0 in the opening minutes of the game.
The girls continue to push on through, taking control of the game and fighting to add more to the score.
With only a minute to go in the first forty-five, Cheyanne Flynn broke through the Seaward’s defence in the box to score off the crossbar into the goal and allowing a healthy lead into the second half.
With the rain calming down at the start of the second half the Bees didn’t hold back, as in the 56th minute a corner for the Bees witnessed them take the lead further with Cheyanne Flynn scoring once again with a header straight down the middle of the goal.
The Bees continue to create more and more chances in the game but couldn’t convert anymore to add to the score board, as the game finished 3-0 to the hosts.
Dan McKimm will be wanting a better result this Thursday night, getting the winning ways back on track and look to climb higher up the league table.
